The sofa sewing machine uses equipment that requires sewing the sofa jacket. Our common sofa covers are made of fabric and leather, both of which are relatively thick and heavy. Therefore, the sofa sewing machine is actually a thick material sewing machine.
Sofa manufacturers have high requirements for the sewing equipment of sofa covers, so when selecting a sofa sewing machine, it is important to pay attention to its usage functions. To have a three synchronous comprehensive feeding function, the machine needle, presser foot, and feeding teeth drag the leather forward together to ensure that the upper and lower leather of the sofa cover does not shift.
The automatic presser foot lifting function automatically lifts the presser foot of the thick material sewing machine when placing leather, saving time and effort.
Automatic reverse sewing function, in order to prevent the thread ends of the starting and ending stitches from falling out, generally there will be at least 3 reverse sewing stitches at the beginning and end.
Automatic thread cutting function: After sewing, the upper and lower threads are automatically cut off, saving time and effort. However, these functions are only limited to the thick material machine used for sofa cover stitching, and the extra thick thread sewing machine used for pressing large threads rarely has this function (the thread is too thick, and the blade cannot be cut).
Automatic needle stopping function: When rotating the sofa cover midway, the machine needle stops at the lower needle position to fix the leather material and prevent displacement from causing inconsistent needle spacing. After the sewing is completed, the machine needle stops at the upper needle position, and the operator can directly remove the sofa cover.
Straight seam auxiliary function: During stitching operations, pneumatic gauges need to be installed to ensure that the seam is straight and the distance between the seam and the edge is consistent. When pressing the thread, it is necessary to install a center split presser foot to ensure that the seam size of the exposed thread and the joint is consistent.
Ribbon traction function: This function is generally specialized for double needle thick material sewing. In order to increase the firmness or three-dimensional effect of the stitching, a gauze tape is added below the leather material during double needle stitching to strengthen the tendons.
Secondary thread clamping function: This function is specialized for extra thick thread sewing machines/large thread sewing machines. The over seam area of the sofa cover often consists of 3 to 6 layers of leather material, which increases in thickness by three times in an instant. A single thread clamping device cannot retract the bottom thread, and a secondary thread clamping device is needed to retract the bottom thread.
Automatic thread dragging function: This function is exclusively used for thick thread sewing machines/large thread sewing machines, and is only used by high-end sofa factories that have high requirements for sewing quality. During the sewing process, the lower the thread roll of the surface thread, the smaller the tension, which will affect the take-up effect of the thick thread sewing machine. Therefore, a surface thread balancing device is needed to ensure that the tension from the thread roll is always the same.
The above are the functions that a good sofa sewing machine should have, and these are also the basic applications involved in making sofa covers.
